There once was a man named Gold Roger, who was King of the Pirates.
He had fame, power, and wealth beyond your wildest dreams.
Before they hung him from the gallows, these were the final words he said:
“My fortune is yours for the taking, but you have to find it first.
I left everything I own in One Piece.”
Ever since, pirates from all over the World set sail for the Grand Line,
searching for One Piece, the treasure that would make their dreams come true.

Hey everyone, CrazyTyphoon here, or as many of the other Brotakus know me as, Senpai! I am one of the founders of the Brotakus and have been a huge fan of anime since the early 2000s. Ever since then I have been expanding my horizons with all things Otaku. I do a lot of reading Light Novels and manga, and also do a lot of Anime watching. For my first review, I am going to start with one of my favorites, One Piece. One Piece was one of the first Animes that I started watching and also the first one to make me want to read the Manga. So without further ado, let us begin!
One Piece is one of the known “Big Three” of Shonen Jump (The other 2 are/were Bleach and Naruto). The entire story is based in a fantasy world, during the age of the pirates. You follow along a crew of Pirates aiming for “One Piece”, the treasure left behind by the previous Pirate King.
With that extremely short summary of the show stated, I will now begin my review! One Piece is a action packed, fun filled, tear jerking Anime which I rate at the top of my list. There are many reasons to watch so I will make a short list of pros and cons.
- Very well written story.
- Characters are very unique and develop with the story. It makes you love and hate some characters.
- Beautiful emotions. This show can make you cry, laugh, and everything in between.
- Great soundtrack that gets you absorbed into the show.
- Unique abilities/powers that other shows never/rarely use.
- The Art is Unique.
- The Art is Unique. Many people who watch One Piece are put off by the art style (more noticeable in the earlier episodes).
- The show is a generic Shonen Anime. The main character is a strong young man who aims to be at the top.
- There are over 700 episodes. This can intimidate anyone from starting the series.
Story   -   9.9 / 10
The story of One Piece is very well written. Overall I would say that it has its ups and downs like other stories, however, everything (non filler) is an important part of the story, as well as linked to a future event. Often time I find myself watching One Piece and realize that the story was foreshadowed several (or often hundreds) of episodes previous. Everything is important.
Music   -   9.6 / 10
The music of One Piece does an amazing job at setting the mood. The songs are very memorable and easily get stuck in your head (in a good way). The songs interact very well with the story and fit perfectly into most situations that the characters find themselves in. The music definitely adds to the experience.
Characters   -   10 / 10
The characters of One Piece are very unique. Much of the story is actually just introducing and developing the important characters. Not only do the main characters all have amazing backstories, the villains often have them as well.
Enjoyment   -   9.9 / 10
One Piece is by far the most enjoyable anime that I have watched up to this point. Although there were some moments where it was less enjoyable, when there are over 700 episodes it is expected. For lack of a better way of putting it, One Piece’s enjoyment levels are near perfect.
- Character Development
- Unique Artstyle
- Long Episode Count
- Different Art Style
